Stress Engineering @ Sydney Analytical

See the stress engineering arm of Sydney Analytical, the University of Sydney's facility for analysing material structure & composition.

Sydney Analytical provides instruments and services dedicated to materials, chemical and biological analysis. It is home to the new Australian Stress Engineering Facility, which offers a range of techniques for determining residual stress in materials and components.

The following techniques are available:

  • stress analysis by X-ray diffraction
  • ICHD
  • slotting and slitting techniques
  • ultrasonic residual stress analysis
  • 3D optical scanning

These provide a range of probes to residual stress including destructive, non-destructive, pre- and post-cutting and -deformation analysis to a range of sample depths. The entire complement is also designed to be portable, so residual stress measurements can be performed in the field as well as in laboratory settings. Tour the facility and speak with our experts.

Tour times
June 20 (Tue), 2:00pm - 3:00pm and 3:30pm – 4:30pm
June 21-23 (Wed – Fri), 12:45pm – 1:30pm
